Deadliest Month Ever
Deadliest Month Ever is National Geographic WILD's signature programming event, showcasing the world's most dangerous and lethal animals in a month-long celebration. A visual and musical homage to Kill Bill/Tarantino films. By featuring a cinemascope aspect ratio, 70s style titles, silhouetting, split screen, and slashy sword transitions, we position the animal talent as nature's assassins, akin to the hitmen/women in Tarantino movies. The animals are portrayed as all killer, no filler, showcasing their action moments and making them look cool. The distinctive visual style created by bespoke GFX and a fun, tongue-in-cheek tone resulted in a spot filled with familiar references for the channel’s 45+ male audience.
Design and Animation
Combining the National Geographic WILD branding with the dynamic, Kill Bill-inspired style of the promo proved to be a challenge. To achieve this, we selected memorable scenes from the movie and signature Tarantino elements (title and chapter slates) and integrated them into the footage, while emphasising the WILD branding with centre-aligned bold text and colours. Throughout the process, we kept the animals at the forefront of the action to ensure that they remained the highlight of the show, keeping true to the WILD’s identity.
